I’d rather have the feedback written so that I can process what is being asked of me at my own pace and then come back with questions.
I’m autistic and have auditory processing differences. I’m not sure whether that’s because I can’t hear with my right ear, but it’s definitely one of the reasons I prefer written communication. The others are my social anxiety, rejection sensitivity, and internalized ableism.
Plus, if I have everything in writing and the company tries to fire me without a real reason, I will have all the feedback in writing to prove that. This happened to me already: I didn’t have written comments on what I needed to improve in my OKRs, and they used that against me.
