YOU ASKED – WE ANSWERED
How can i thrive in a non-inclusive workplace?
Neurodivergent people can thrive in non-inclusive workplaces by creating personalized systems, setting clear boundaries, leaning into their strengths, and finding allies or external support. Staying grounded in self-awareness while protecting their energy helps navigate and succeed despite the lack of inclusivity.
How do i talk about my neurodivergence without feeling judged?
Education and self-advocacy are key. Framing your neurodivergence as a strength, such as enhanced creativity, unique problem-solving skills, or hyperfocus, can help shift perspectives. Some neurodivergent individuals find it helpful to use analogies, such as comparing ADHD to a computer with too many tabs open, to make it relatable.
I just got assessed (diagnosed) – what now?
First, take a deep breath, you’re not broken, you’re just finally understanding yourself better! Getting assessed can feel overwhelming, but it’s actually the beginning of a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Start by connecting with others who share your experience in our community, explore resources that resonate with you, and remember: there’s no ‘right’ way to be neurodivergent. You belong here!
How do i manage overwhelm?
Overwhelm is real, can lead to burnout, and recognizing it is the first step. Start with basics, like are you getting enough sleep, eating regularly, and taking breaks? Create a ‘sensory first aid kit’ – noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, calming scents. Practice saying no to non-essential commitments. Schedule ‘nothing time’ like you would any important appointment. Rest is required for anyone.
