Feeling baked?
If you have ADHD or autism, you might notice your body feels “sick” more often. It’s not your fault. Your brain and body are connected and when one is sensitive, the other often is too.
5 Body Problems You Might Have
- Fast heartbeat or feeling dizzy when standing upYou might feel really tired, lightheaded, or like your heart is racing.
- Joint pain or being super flexibleYour knees, shoulders, or fingers might hurt, or bend more than most people’s. You might bruise easily.
- Allergies or weird reactionsCertain foods, smells, or clothes might make you feel sick or itchy.
- Stomach problemsYou might have stomach pain, poop too much (or not enough), or feel like only a few foods are “safe” to eat.
- Headaches and full-body painYou might hurt all over — and feel worse when standing or moving around.
You’re Not Imagining It
These symptoms are very real. Many doctors don’t know that ADHD and autism can come with body issues like:
- POTS (heart rate/dizzy problems)
- EDS (joint/connective tissue issues)
- MCAS (allergy-like symptoms)
- Digestive disorders
3 Steps You Can Take Today
Step 1: Track Your Symptoms
Write down for one week:
- How tired you feel (1–10)
- Any pain
- What you ate and how it made you feel
Step 2: Talk to a Doctor (if you can)
Say:
“I have ADHD/autism, and I’m having these symptoms. Can you check for POTS, EDS, MCAS, or stomach issues?”
Step 3: Try One Small Change
Pick ONE to start:
- Drink more water
- Wear compression socks
- Choose 3 “safe” foods that don’t hurt your stomach
- Make a quiet, dark space for bad days
