Oh I feel you @helena.pleinert. That’s why most of my very close friends are neurodivergents or super empathetic. 🫶🏼

It really can be that simple. As a society, we’ve learned to complicate differences and put people into boxes. But everyone is different in their own way, even the ones we call “normal.” If we replace fear with curiosity, getting along becomes much easier. ☺️

Yeah, I was researching it a bit deeper last couple of weeks and it’s a power dynamic thing.. Most NDs are empaths by nature which is nurturing to narcissists, but drains the energy out of NDs. Only if you know the dynamic and about narcissism, you can steer and intervene longterm. But it’s hard lessons to go through, as I had multiple narcs at work and in relationships 😑

90% of all neurodivergents do not want to disclose at work, but unfortunately to have reasonable accommodation and systemic change, we need to collectively open up.. If you have a good relationship with your boss, this could be a first step to talk about it in a way what you personally need to thrive and “selling” it as a strength. If that’s not possible, because you feel your boss won’t accept/ understand, it also might not be an environment where longterm you’ll stay.. I’ve had that and today I choose different environments, because I personally had to learn the hard way what it means to open up in an unsafe environment. Just my experience, no guidance you have to follow. Trust your gut feeling in this case but for me it was either I was safe or I had to find another environment, because workplace toxicity is nothing you can overall change – you’ll lose.. 😶

If I sit on the sofa e.g. I’ll count to three if I have to do minor tasks that are uninteresting.. 😅

Else, I usually schedule myself some time to do it but then it also depends on my energy, not an easy one but e.g. I schedule admin like paying bills, doing paperwork generally on a Friday afternoon, shortly before weekend. That gives me motivation to have it done and a small moment of pride that’s I was productive before enjoying my weekend ☺️

In my experience, it’s a lot easier to first look at your surroundings/ environment you’re in. Do you feel you can be authentic? If not, lifestyle changes will be the biggest game changer in order to start safely unmasking. It’s a process that might take a year or two, but that’s how I started (still in process myself..) 🥲
